Grammars are best for the brightest;In brief;News;News and opinion

BRIGHTER children tend to do better in grammar schools while the less bright perform better in comprehensives. But the differences are small, according to a new study from London University’s Institute of Education. Authors David Crook, Sally Power and Geoff Whitty, add that able pupils’ success in grammars may be as much to do with more generous funding and staff retention.
