Applications to the Scottish Executive’s science small grants scheme must be submitted by January 14.

School clusters are invited to compete for grants ranging from pound;500 to pound;2,500 for science projects which promote partnerships among schools, address some of the transition difficulties that can arise between primary and secondary and show potential for sustainability beyond one year.

The small grants scheme aims to stimulate children’s enthusiasm for science, improve their attainment in the subject and enable primary teachers to gain experience of science teaching at secondary schools.

For advice on project ideas and writing proposals, contact science small grants scheme representative Briony Curtis, tel 07976 630607 or e-mail briony.curtis@bes8t.co.uk

For more details and application forms see www.scienceeducation3-18.com or contact Susan Harvie at Careers Scotland, tel 0141 429 1999.
