I was delighted to read the article on Glyn Lloyd (TES Magazine, September 10). Mr Lloyd was my headmaster at St Mary’s School in Purton in the 1960s and I can remember many afternoons listening to him playing in a trio with other staff.
The music was unknown to me then, coming as I did from a family who did not play classical music. I also remember the drive for a swimming pool - in fact, my friend and I were the first pupils to hold a jumble sale in aid of funds!
I only hope that the many children I have taught over the last 30 years will hold memories as good as those I have from St Mary’s. I did have to smile, though, at his closing comment ... we were terrified of Mr Lloyd!
