To mark Remembrance Sunday, the National Archives launched a web resource for history teachers called The Great War, 1914-1918. Aimed at KS34, the site offers access to handwritten letters, First World War maps, photographs and sound and video recordings. Topics such as why Britain went to war in 1914, experiencing the trenches, why it was so hard to make peace, and how we remember the Great War are covered with the accompanying teacher’s notes, worksheets and quizzes. A very useful glossary is also available.
