Two eco-friendly primary schools have been shortlisted for a pound;15,000 green energy prize.

Seaton primary in Devon, and Woodheys primary in Sale, Cheshire, have been nominated in the sustainable schools category of the Ashden awards for sustainable energy. Seaton was recognised for its on-site wind turbine and solar panels, while Woodheys has created a curriculum highlighting the importance of the environment.

Al Gore, the former US vice-president, will present the awards in London next week.
