THE Scottish Green Party wants “full community” schools to become universal. There should be an annual increase in their number and in the range of community activities in which they are engaged.
The “education for life” section of the Greens’ manifesto states that education should be free of charge “given the link between poverty and poor educational achievement”.
The party mirrors the policies of the other opposition manifestos in demanding the abolition of student tuition fees and restoration of grants for less well off students.
Primary class sizes should be reduced, and there should be more diversity of settings in which people can learn.
A “seamless spectrum of options” would allow people to train for work or pursue education for its own sake.
