Welsh colleges grew by 7.7 per cent last year on average, new enrolment figures reveal. But recruitment at the principality’s 42 colleges varied considerably, ranging from a 14 per cent fall in numbers to growth of 32 per cent.

There has been a 38 per cent increase in student numbers since colleges became self-governing.
