GTC’s demise

There seems to be a lack of awareness and appreciation of the strong work the GTC has done through the Teacher Learning Academy (TLA). To say the teaching council has had no impact in helping to improve the quality of teaching and learning, develop professionalism and provide the key link between teacher and student learning is, in my view, ill-founded.

The TLA has had a significant role in enhancing my school’s reputation as an effective and vibrant learning organisation (along with many other schools across the country). If the GTC is abolished, which I do not advocate, I would strongly support the retention of the TLA as it is without doubt an effective mechanism for supporting the continuing learning and development of teachers.
