Experienced teachers need help with managing the increasing number of support staff in classrooms, according to the General Teaching Council for England. The teaching council has requested that the Government update its guidance to include the role of a new breed of senior support staff: higher-level teaching assistants, who will be allowed to take lessons alone (see page 4).
