Half of maths and technology jobs advertised in inner London remain unfilled

Half of all maths and technology jobs advertised in inner London secondaries for this academic year remain unfilled and shortages are drastic in the capital.

However, the problem is not confined to those two subjects. Almost half the English posts in inner London schools and more than quarter in outer London schools are empty.

The head of a London girls’ schoolsaid: “There is hardly an employable maths teacher in London. The costs of working here are out of all proportion to any benefits.”

The good news was, every inner London school got an art teacher if they needed one. Otherwise the capital was way above the national average for vacancies in all subjects but history.
