Delays in the plan to rebuild or refurbish every secondary in England are damaging pupils’ education, the Confederation of British Industry has warned. Much-needed improvements, including modern science laboratories and high-quality sports facilities, were not being delivered quickly enough, the CBI said. It said academic goals needed to be put at the heart of the Building Schools for the Future programme to tackle “poor education performance”, and that speeding up the scheme would also provide a boost to the construction industry.
