Have faith in choice and diversity

In my article in The TESS, October 12, you quote me as saying that I am among those many people who would “prefer it if faith schools were not an option”.

What I actually wrote was that many people, including me, “would prefer it if other families did not choose faith schools”.

As my whole article indicates, I believe we need greater diversity and more choice in our education system. Therefore, I have no desire to remove from parents an existing opportunity to choose. While as an individual, I would rather that they did not exercise this particular option, I believe firmly that it is a decision which a democracy should leave in their hands.
