HE entry falls to 46 per cent

The number of secondary school leavers progressing into higher education is falling, according to the annual Careers Wales pupil destinations survey. Figures show that the percentage of Year 13 pupils progressing to higher education fell from 60 per cent in 2009 to 56 per cent in 2010. The proportion taking a gap year also fell, from 3 per cent in 2009 to 2 per cent in 2010.
