Primaries are set to be the main beneficiaries of the Scottish Executive’s revised physical education and sport review. The final report from the review group is likely to recommend that each cluster of primaries should be allocated one PE teacher. But that will probably lead to a cut in hours for activity co-ordinators in secondary.

Despite meeting for 18 months, the review group will duck difficult questions about out-of-hours school sport and call for further study.
