A pound;100,000 scheme to cut teenage pregnancies in a deprived borough of Newcastle is being hindered by some headteachers who don’t approve of handing out contraceptives in class, say organisers. The North Tynesie Health Partnership Board, made up of councillors, health experts and the voluntary sector, says some headteachers are “either preoccupied with academic matters or worried about upsetting parents”.
