Hungry-for-success gurus will be delighted that there may be such a thing as a healthy chippy at a school near you.

Youngsters at the newly-opened Williamwood High in Clarkston have been asking their parents if they can go to school by bike. One mum, delighted at her son’s new-found enthusiasm for exercise - but, like all mums, suspicious - asked him what the real reason was.

“It’s the chippy at Busby,” he admitted. “It’s too far away to get to at lunchtime if we walk. But if you cycle, there’s enough time and the exercise is good for you.”

Food for thought.
