First, Patricia Kennedy from St Mark's primary paid official Ian Fraser a compliment - well we think it was a compliment. She thanked him for his support during an inspection, informing councillors: "He may look young but he has a very old head."
The boy Fraser accepted the plaudit in good spirit, realising that it was almost certainly a reference to his sagacity rather than his follically challenged cranium.
Minutes later, Anne Dunn, head of Cross Arthurlie primary, described how during an inspection by HMI some pupils demonstrated the skills they had acquired during music lessons by parading behind the inspector as he walked along a corridor chanting in unison: "We know who you are, we know who you are."
If the ability to wow an education committee ever becomes a module in the new qualification for headship, the East Ren heidies have much to offer.
