Last year 1,000 schools raised pound;50,000 through the ideas provided by the overseas aid agency Concern. Their FoodAid 2002 CD-Rom offers many suggestions for making World Food Day on October 16 a time when children think about why they should contribute money and where it should go. Lesson plans on many topics include “Dividing the World Cake” or making a snakes and ladders game to illustrate the potential calamities of international trade relations. A catchy song could become the main theme of a special assembly.

To register your school for FoodAid 2002 and to receive a FoodAid pack, including free CD-Rom and fundraising materials, write to Concern, 248-250 Lavender Hill, London SW11 1IJ.
