When pupils get out of hand at The Ridings School, in a working-class district of a northern town, we send in emergency Office for Standards in Education inspectors, and a trouble-shooting head.
When pupils get out of hand in a grant-maintained school in Canterbury, some people are “impressed by the loyalty”, it is “pupils expressing their concern”.
Two cultures, or what?
