Hooking schools to the National Grid for Learning is to be backed by an “expert team” of six. Peter Peacock, the Deputy Children and Education Minister, said they would advise on the best educational use of ICT and provide liaison with central government.
The experts would provide key support in ensuring the Government’s targets of one computer for every five secondary pupils and eight primary pupils are met.
The team are John Dickie, who worked with Tesco on its SchoolNet 2000 project, Alan Dawson, of Strathclyde University library, Jack Davidson, consultant with the technology council, Anne Petry, a specialist in IT for community learning, Nick Morgan, the Scottish Virtual Teacher Centre manager, and Patricia Kemp, formerly with the technology council advising on curricular software.
