The TESS understands the Scottish Office is set to put at least Pounds 10 million into schools over three years to aid the Higher Still programme and head off a threatened teacher boycott.
The Education Minister refused to confirm the extra funding when he unveiled the Government’s education spending plans this week, which the Educational Institute of Scotland said was “hugely disappointing”.
But Brian Wilson said: “I have not been wasting my time on my visits to schools. There are clearly areas of legitimate concern and I have a shared interest in ensuring the smooth delivery of this reform programme.”
