Almost 1,400 Glasgow schoolchildren are participating in a series of primary PE festivals in the city over the next six weeks.

The annual competitions, organised by Glasgow City Council’s PE specialists, have become important dates in schools’ sporting calendars.

“Adopting a healthy lifestyle is a key aim for Glasgow’s younger generation, and festivals like the ones taking place in the Kelvin Hall and the Primary Schools’ Cross Country championships at Nether Pollok on Friday, March 9, are proof of the council’s continued commitment to achieving this,” said a spokesperson for the council.

The pupils will be taking part in a Scottish Country Dance Festival on March 14, and athletics on March 28 - all taking place at the Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena from 10.15am - 14.15pm each day.
