It’s that time of year when Cinderella sweeps the floor and this year she seems to be sweeping for Scotland. Throughout panto season, Cinders will be at the King’s Theatre in Edinburgh, His Majesty’s, Aberdeen, Perth Theatre and Cumbernauld Theatre; she’ll also be stepping out with Scottish Ballet at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow and Festival Theatre, Edinburgh.

Aladdin’s not as busy, but catch him at the King’s Theatre, Glasgow and Ayr Gaiety; while Hansel and Gretel are setting up their house at Dundee Rep and The Arches, Glasgow. Dick Whittington is off to make his fortune at the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh, while his cousin Wullie Whittington is at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

The Snowman will take on Jack Frost at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh; Peter Pan will combat Captain Hook with the help of Wendy, Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys at the Glasgow Pavilion; and Beauty and the Beast will get together at the Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy.

A car which has yet to appear on Pimp My Ride will chug along in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Edinburgh Playhouse, while Aunt Sponger and Aunt Spiker will try to keep things cruel in James and the Giant Peach at the Glasgow Citizens. Scrooge (played by Michael Barrymore) is putting in a late appearance at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh, in a show with illusions by magician Paul Kieve, the man behind the special effects in the Harry Potter films.

And the puppet with the problem proboscis, aka Pinocchio, will be hoping to become a real boy at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh.
