AN EXHIBITION of documents and art work, including William Shakespeare’s will, Guy Fawkes’s confession and a letter from Jack the Ripper mocking police efforts to catch him, was officially opened by the Lord Chancellor this week. The education and visitor centre at the Public Records Office n Kew, south west London, also features the Magna Carta and Edward VIII’s letter of abdication. And there is a message from the doomed Titanic, reading: “SOS SOS, we are sinking fast, passengers being put in boats.” Opening hours are 10am 5pm Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
