The collection includes a wide range of materials to inspire teachers and lots of ideas and activities to keep pupils engaged. Rationing During World War II has first-hand accounts from people who lived through the war, talking about the effects rationing had on their lives.
For students of the Suffragette movement, there is a PowerPoint version of Richard and Judy game “You say we pay”. There are pictures of Mrs Pankhurst, the funeral of suffragette martyr Emily Davison in 1913, and a frontpage of the Suffragette newspaper with stories on forcible feeding, and “Militant women tortured, Militant men received by the King”.
There are materials on the Hitler Youth and its activities, how it was organised, and lots of facts and figures. There were 108,000 members by 1932, and they must not be seen in uniform with girls, must not buy things at Jewish shops and must ignore friends and parents while marching along.
For students of the American West, there is a PowerPoint on different Native American Indian tribes, with images of the different forms of nomadic housing, together with good images of the medicine man, teenage initiation and the Medicine Wheel stone “temples”. Some good statistics as well, regarding the impact of white settlers on buffalo and NAI depopulation numbers. And there is a Standard grade presentation explaining why the Indians rose up against the US government in the mid- 1850s.
