Nick Gibb, Conservative shadow education minister, was given figures to show that 1,479 secondaries, including private and special schools, did not enter any pupils for history, 1,373 schools did not enter any pupils for a full modern language GCSE, and 1,516 more schools did not enter anyone for a geography GCSE.
