A. I think you must. Under regulations made under Section 408 of the 1996 Education Act, a parent has the right to see the curricular record of a child in a maintained school. This would include the pupil’s scholastic achievements during the past year, with particular reference, in this case, tolevels attained at key stage 2. It must also include comments on progress and the attendance record.

I assume that this record would be at the core of the information sent to the secondary school and should, therefore, be available to the parent. Other information need not necessarily be made available, unless it is held oncomputer, in which case there is an automatic right of access under the Data Protection Act.
