The City of Edinburgh Museums and Edinburgh World Heritage have been working together to develop the new facility, which has been created so that primary school children can explore their city’s history through art and activities.

The new activity space will allow children to have fun and learn about the Old and New Towns of the city. They will be able to handle replica objects, dress up in costumes and gowns from the 18th and 19th centuries, join the family activity trail and take part in an array of art projects.

The Museum of Edinburgh is a series of inter-connected 16th and 17th- century buildings situated on the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Formerly known as Huntly House, the museum specialises in the history of Edinburgh from the earliest settlement to the present day.

Entrance to the school activity area is free.
