Ethical capitalism

The charity Oasis, together with London Connection and Christian Aid, has designed a new pack to take the debate about capitalism into the classroom (www.oasisuk.orgethicalcapitalism). Using real examples such as the financial crash, pupils ask what capitalism is, how it works and how it influences the world we live in. They go on to debate who should take responsibility when things go wrong.

The pack for key stage 4 pupils includes: six 60-minute lesson plans; lessons divided into four discussion-based tasks about ethical issues; plenaries to encourage debate; and detailed handouts about religious values, poverty and wealth.

What else?

For a classic capitalism versus communism debate, try BiltonSilton’s resource. Or debate whether the government should limit bankers’ pay with a resource from instituteofideas that is sure to cause a stir.
