The Scottish Hockey Union is hoping to attract as many as 64 primary school teams to its first National Primary Festival at the National Hockey Centre in Peffermill, Edinburgh, on June 9.

The SHU is looking for six-a-side teams made up of P6 and P7 pupils - boys and girls - to play initially in local festivals and then move forward to the finals.

“Teams can come from either individual primary schools or clusters of schools,” explains Ben Glencross, the SHU’s national development officer.

“This means that a child attending a big city primary school should be able to play or a child who attends a small rural school could join up with other schools to play.”
