THE NUMBER of schools with an Internet connection is increasing, but many pupils are missing out because their school has just one computer with Net access.

The first survey of communications technology in schools, conducted by the British Educational Suppliers Association, found that 87 per cent of the 618 secondaries and 34 per cent of the 777 primaries polled have access. However, two-thirds of those primaries have only one Net computer.
