FREE CHILDREN’S PERFORMANCE TRAILS AND WORKSHOPS
Young children aged three and over can join sailors Nat and Ned for Pirates Ahoy!, or the Terrific Two in their final adventure against a dastardly villain at Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood, Cambridge Heath Road, London E2. MAKING IT: PROCESS AND PARTICIPATION
The Tate Gallery Liverpool has invited five young artists, including Janet Hodgson and James Rielly, to make new works for display ranging from installation and sculpture to painting and drawing using traditional art and “non-art” materials. Visitors will be invited to contribute their own impressions of the exhibition, ask questions and consider the role of the gallery in the making of art. Details: 0151 709 3223.

FLIGHT ACTIVITIES WEEK
Attractions at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London NW9, include: tethered flights in National Power’s hot-air balloon; Pete the Pylon; helicopter flights; computer simulators; and model aircraft and kite-building workshops for children. On August 8, the RAF Falcons parachute team will jump into the museum grounds. No charge for outdoor attractions apart from helicopter rides. Details: 0181 200 1763.
AUGUST 9-11 AND 23-25 FREE CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS
Home Front, Roman and medieval workshops organised by Back O’Doig‘s Museum in the National Fishing Heritage Centre, Great Grimsby, South Humberside. Children can make warlike decorations, posters and rag rugs from clothes past in a “making-do-and-mending” session. Alternatively, they can wear togas, make mosaics and try Roman writing, or create gargoyles and stained-glass windows. Details: Janet Tierney, 01472 344867.
