MAKING IT: PROCESS AND PARTICIPATION
The Tate Gallery Liverpool has invited five young artists, including Janet Hodgson and James Rielly, to make new works for display ranging from installation and sculpture to painting and drawing using traditional art and "non-art" materials. Visitors will be invited to contribute their own impressions of the exhibition, ask questions and consider the role of the gallery in the making of art. Details: 0151 709 3223.
FLIGHT ACTIVITIES WEEK
Attractions at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London NW9, include: tethered flights in National Power's hot-air balloon; Pete the Pylon; helicopter flights; computer simulators; and model aircraft and kite-building workshops for children. AUGUST 9-11 AND 23-25 FREE CHILDREN'S WORKSHOPS
Home Front, Roman and medieval workshops organised by Back O'Doig's Museum in the National Fishing Heritage Centre, Great Grimsby, South Humberside. Children can make warlike decorations, posters and rag rugs from clothes past in a "making-do-and-mending" session.
