Holy Cross boys’ primary, Belfast, is the overall winner of the RamesysTES 2004 Learning Environment Awards, presented last night at the Savoy, London, by TV news reporter Michael Buerk. The winners and runners-up won pound;3,000. There were more than 150 applications for the awards, launched by ICT provider Ramesys and The TES in December.

The results are: Extending the learning opportunity: winner William Ransom primary, Hitchin, Hertfordshire; runner-up Lincolnshire county council.

Engagement: winner Holy Cross boys’ primary; runner-up Woodlawn community special school, Monkseaton; highly commended St Mary’s Roman Catholic primary, Chipping, Lancashire. Sharing best practice: winner Sir Robert Hitcham’s primary, Suffolk; runner-up Cleeve school, Cheltenham.

Collaboration: winner Portsmouth council ethnic-minority achievement service; runner-up Tonbridge grammar, Kent. Transforming teaching and learning: winner St Monica’s primary, Merseyside; runner-up Kings College for the Arts and Technology (secondary), Guildford; highly commended Lent Rise school, Buckinghamshire.
