Students from two Glasgow schools and a further education college have won the top three prizes in an international “cook-off” held in a glass kitchen in Hamburg, Germany.
David Thomson and Scott McLerie from Smithycroft Secondary and Raymond Lafferty from Eastbank Academy teamed up with Seb Wereski, Arran McCredie and Andy Cruikshank from Glasgow Metropolitan College to beat their German opposition, students from the training school of Le Voyage restaurant.
The event, held in July beside Hamburg’s town hall, required them to prepare three menus for a dinner for 50 people.
Ann Pope, home economics teacher at Eastbank Academy, said: “It’s been a great experience for everyone and we are hoping to stage something similar in Glasgow.”
