Colin Richards’ article will have given many teachers much encouragement, coming as it does from someone with so much credibility within primary education.
He has been an excellent class teacher and deputy head, an academic of high standing and a successful inspector. His vision for primary schooling in the future and his grave concerns for the way the findings of inspections are presented and used has struck a chord with many of us. I hope he’ll use his newly acquired freedom to further develop these themes in The TES.
