Bets are now being taken about where Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Schools might now find a home. One of the many consequences of hiving off HMI into an executive agency is that it must move out from under the Executive’s roof.

In the days of Michael Forsyth, his Stirling constituency was always a favourite for homeless agencies. We merely observe at this sage that the current Education Minister represents Motherwell and Wishaw, which can always do with new industry.

Another agency likely to be looking for an alternative to its current locations in Dalkeith and Glasgow is the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

Perhaps they should get together. After all, many think the two are already related.
