How 56,000 youngsters learn the business;Young Enterprise

Latest data for England and Wales shows there are: * 3,300 Young Enterprise companies.

* 56,000 participants, called “Achievers”. Of these, 41,600 are on the Young Enterprise Company Programme, for 15 to 19-year-olds. 3,100 are with Team Enterprise, for those with special learning needs. 11,600 are involved in Project Business UK, aimed at 14 and 15-year-olds.

* 9,000 business advisers volunteer their services to Young Enterprise.

* 280 Young Enterprise volunteer area boards operate throughout England and Wales.

* 32,500 candidates have taken the Young Enterprise examination - equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Of these, 30,000 are from the UK, 2,500 from overseas.
