How will Ofsted judge happiness?

So there are moves to put happiness on the curriculum? (Get Smart supplement, TES,June 9) Expect at least two attainment targets, each with a minimum of six levels, and assessments at key stages 1 to 4; inclusion in the schools’ pre-Ofsted self-assessment pack; tick-boxes on Ofsted clipboards; private finance initiative schemes for schools which become specialist happiness colleges; national happiness standards with unrealistic year-on-year targets, and dire penalties for schools which fail to hit them...

As for teaching aids: two decades of increasingly hysterical initiatives leave us with very little material except for farce and black comedy.
