In future, most low-volume and photo printing will be done on inkjet printers, and high-volume on workhorse lasers - that’s what our reviewers used to say.

It’s already happened. But not many of them foresaw that all-in-one inkjets like the hp officejet d155xi, roughly the size of one of those mobile dishwashers that can sit on your draining board, would be quite so versatile. Quality colour printing, scanning, copying and faxing.

Got a digital camera? Just take out its memory device, put it in a slot on the front of the d155, print out a contact sheet, tick your requirements, place it back on the scanner and get your prints.

Faults? It can’t do the dishes.
