Hull considers keeping pupils for extra hour to do homework

SECONDARY pupils in Hull could soon find themselves being kept behind at school for an extra hour a day to do their homework. The local education authority believes the move could help lift the city off the bottom of the national GCE league tables where it has languished for four years. Teachers would either be paid extra to supervise the sessions or non-teaching staff would be employed, according to Hull’s assistant education director Andy Swallow.
