I spy citizens in Parliament;Letter

I have been taking my students on the parliamentary autumn visits programme for many years and have always found the tours well-organised and informative.

But there is one change I would request. Please stop calling people “strangers” and start calling them “citizens”. I know the use of strangers is traditional but there is more than enough tradition at Westminster. The tragedy is that many students already feel themselves to be strangers to the system in which they live and most don’t know what citizenship means.
