- Digital projects mean prizes

The Chartered Institute for IT has launched a competition in which pupils create a digital media project on environmental issues. Entries can be any digital project, from a documentary or short drama to building a “green” website. Prizes include the new iPad 2 in a special green cover. Pupils can upload their entries onto video-sharing sites such as YouTube or email them to qualifications@hq.bcs.org.uk. The competition runs until 1 July. For more details go to www.bcs.orgdigitalcreatorcomp

- App brings parents closer

ParentMail+Play, a school-to-home communications service, is launching a mobile phone app so that schools can send parents information, enable them to pay for items and get authorisation for school trips and other events. It also connects multiple schools and clubs into one central parent account. It will be available to download from September. Go to www.parentmail.co.uk for more details.

- Added features for film-makers

Film Street, an organisation aimed at getting young people interested in making films, has re-launched its website to include new features such as stop-frame animation, features on contemporary animators and film-makers and video-based workshops. To celebrate the new site, pupils can enter an animation competition which gives them the chance to win two FlipHD digital cameras. For more information go to www.filmstreet.co.uk.
