Pupils build web directory

A team of budding entrepreneurs from a school in Torbay, Devon, has built a web directory for local businesses. MayneAd, available via a link on the school’s website, enables businesses to upload advertising to their own space and update or change their details. The annual fee is #163;150. #163;8k donation buys netbooks

Wookey Primary School in Somerset has been given a #163;8,500 donation to buy a set of 25 netbooks. Headteacher Clive Rockell highlighted pupils’ knowledge of Doctor Who and their connection with HG Wells, who was once a tutor at the school, in a plea to IT services company Misys. The company’s charitable arm, the Misys foundation, made the donation last month.

Vivo reward points add up

Schools that use the Capita Sims management system can now track how they reward pupils with Vivo reward points. Points can be awarded via Capita Sims, and teachers can analyse student, teacher and class reward data to check that they are rewarding fairly. Visit www.vivorewards.com.
