Art and design staff at Strathaven Academy, South Lanarkshire, have used ICT in exciting ways to enrich pupils’ learning. Advanced Higher students worked online with screenprinter Willie Rodger and primary and secondary schools across Scotland via Glow. Teachers from primary and secondary also came together with Scottish Screen practitioners to plan an interdisciplinary project for P7, S1 and S2. The pupils analysed and produced film and animation on a range of themes, including space travel and local history. They achieved a good understanding of film as text and developed relevant skills in analysing, creating and producing. In both projects, the youngsters worked independently, encouraged others and used new technology to improve their skills.
