Music in the movies

Nothing livens up music lessons better than a film score. Rapturous string sections signalling the saving of Private Ryan or the destruction of the Death Star can transport pupils from the classroom into other worlds before you can say “action”.

Film music is an exciting topic to cover with pupils and TES has some great resources to support you. Try Graham Hickey’s film music booklet with ideas for creating your own storyboard. Zoeage has shared a whole scheme of work for film music, with a variety of film composers and games for starters and plenaries. Alisutcliffe has also created a slideshow for a film music unit, which is proving popular with teachers - what do you think?
