IDS pledges action on education

TORY leader Iain Duncan Smith put education at the top of the agenda in his New Year message to his party, calling for a new schools campaign to tackle the “growing gap” between standards in inner cities and the rest of the country. The move comes just days after the Conservatives pledged to cut Government spending by 20 per cent if they are elected. The party insists that the pledge would not affect spending on education or health.
