Your article (“More role models required to get girls into the lab”, February 28) says that, “teachers must do more to promote the achievements of women in science.” I think that it is too late by the time girls are in school.

So many little girls are dressed in pink from birth. They grow up thinking that they are “princesses” and cannot explore the world or get messy. Why cannot parents dress them in practical colours like navy blue or brown?

Children should not be categorised from such an early age.
