INCLUSION POCKETBOOK. By Niki Elliot, Elaine Doxey and Val Stephenson. Teacher’s Pocketbooks. pound;6.99

Subtitled “A pocketful of tips, tools and practical advice”, this is indeed a small book, with small print and more bullets than a James Bond film. But its ideas are big and what it lacks in depth it makes up for in breadth.

For those who want to read more there is a good bibliography.

The authors cover most of the bases - inclusion as a process not an end point, collegiate management, mind mapping your principles and aims, inclusivity through different learning styles, and so on. Lots of practical information and advice which is, of necessity, brief - but the upside is there is no waffle.

The chapters on setting suitable learning challenges and on creating an inclusive learning environment are particularly good. There is also a section on legislation and comprehensive and sound advice on evaluation - but, even given that this is a pocketbook, I would have liked more than one page on pupil voice.
