Girls’ schools took most of the top places in the independent schools league table of GCSE results published by the Independent Schools Information Service (ISIS).

Ninety-two per cent of those entered achieved grades A*-C, an increase of 0.4 percentage points. The proportion achieving higher grade GCSEs in the state sector was only 54.4 per cent.

The independent schools where all pupils achieved A* to C passes are: Bromley High (girls); Old Palace School of John Whitgift, Croydon (girls); King Edward VI High School for Girls, Birmingham; City of London School for Girls; Wycombe Abbey School, High Wycombe (girls); Withington Girls School, Manchester; Talbot Heath School, Bournemouth; Tudor Hall School, Banbury, and Westbourne School, Penarth.
