Industrial action over violent pupil

TEACHERS at a Manchester primary school have voted for

industrial action rather than teach a seven-year-old pupil who kicked and spat at a newly-qualified colleague. The girl has been taught alone since attacking the teacher at St Chad’s primary, Cheetham Hill, Manchester. Sinc Monday, she has been receiving anger-management therapy from her local authority.

Both the National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers have said they would not strike over the pupil but could refuse to teach her.
